Building economic opportunity

Wacif’s mission is to promote equity and economic opportunity in underserved neighborhoods in the Washington, D.C. region. Wacif has been continuously certified as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) since 1996, making the organization one of the nation’s first CDFIs. Since its founding in 1987, it has:

• Provided more than $100 million in flexible financing disbursed through grants and loans for local small businesses and entrepreneurs
• Served more than 4,500 entrepreneurs
• Created or retained nearly 45,000 full and part-time jobs for local communities
• Provided more than 9,700 hours of business counseling and technical assistance for entrepreneurs
