Loring, Wolcott & Coolidge Office is a professional family office that offers a wide range of highly personalized fiduciary services. We maintain long-standing relationships with our clients by being responsive to their needs. The continuity of these relationships has given us the satisfaction of serving many families over multiple generations. Our office has grown with the families we serve and we now manage approximately five billion dollars in assets. In addition to its traditional fiduciary and investment management services, the firm has developed specialized services for socially responsible investors.
We have a simple investment philosophy; our client's assets should be committed to reasonably-priced, high-quality growth stocks to the greatest extent that the client's risk tolerance and income requirements will allow. In making investment decisions, the trustees draw on their collective investment experience through regular investment reviews. We encourage client involvement in the investment process. Participation helps clients become more informed about their financial situation. Experience has shown us that communication is the best way to insure client satisfaction with the trust relationship.
The office employs professionals who handle tax preparation, estate settlement, securities trading, accounting and general administrative tasks. The office is not a trust company, and we do not serve as corporate trustees. It services accounts for trustees and family trustees who are affiliated with the office. The trustees collectively act as investment advisors and employ independent counselors who provide quantitative analysis and participate with us in our investment meetings.
It is general office policy to have two trustees serve on any account. This is to provide continuity and to insure that a trustee will always be available to the client. The trustees on an account rarely change, so they become well acquainted with the clients they serve. We feel one of our greatest strengths is the understanding our trustees develop of a family's personal needs and circumstances. The readiness to take time with people, as well as investments, is a major source of the continuing appeal of private trusteeship today.
We primarily handle trusteeships under the provisions of a revocable trust, a will, or an irrevocable trust but also handle estates, guardianships and provide investment management services through Loring, Wolcott & Coolidge Fiduciary Advisors. Where the Loring, Wolcott & Coolidge Office provides custodial services the securities are held by our master custodian, Bank of America, in book entry form through the Depository Trust Company or as physical certificates. Custody of retirement accounts is provided by Fidelity Investments.
In short, our office provides highly personalized trust services without the corporate formalities. We focus on accounts in excess of one million dollars so we can maintain high levels of service to our clients. Because we value our family relationships, we are willing to handle smaller accounts which are a part of a larger family composite.
